Party at Sany’s House (Season 2)

4 months ago, I remember that we had a party of “Sukisoup”, at Sany’s house. That time was when I have just been back from Japan and everyone hadn’t started class at university yet.

4 months later, on 07/02/10, we had a party again at Sany’s house, but this time the food was different. Participants: Dara C, Dara H, Sany, Mouyleng, Yany, Chhoeng, Monin, Dy, Ro, Maido, Vichka, and me.

The gathering time had been set at 7:30am, but everyone was late. After chipping in, Dara H, Chhoeng, Monin, Yani, Mouyleng, and I went to Boeng Trabek market together to buy the ingredient listed on the list.

Today was “Removing Incense Stick Day”, a ceremony celebrated one week before Chinese New Year, so it was a bit crowded at the market. We bought beef, pork chicken, vegetable, and flavoring. What were we gonna have?

*Roast beef joint with green pepper onion and pineapple
*Rotty-marinated roast chicken in oven
*Deep-fried golden Zayor rolls
*Cold-stirred flour noodle dressed with fish sauce
*Stir-fried rice with egg and Holland bean
*Healthy vegetable soup

We started cooking at 9:30. All our friends did well in their cooking jobs, although they had little experience with cooking, while I didn’t help much, frankly. After slicing, chopping, cutting, marinating, sticking in, roasting, rolling, frying, boiling, making, breaking, washing…, eventually, we had our lunch at 12:30.

From the hands of our friends, sincerely, I’d like to say that every dish was delicious, more delicious than I expected. We are not skillful cooks, but at least we made it, and, importantly, we were really enjoyed with the process of making. However, we need more improvement for next time.

After lunch, Chhoeng, Mouyleng, and Yany washed dishes and glasses. Then, some played ‘traditional game’, some played internet, some watched TV. Thida were on-line to join us for a while.
Time for fun always lasted very fast. We stayed at Sany’s house with playing words inversion until 4:50pm, and it’s time to say goodbye. Thanks you my friend for today! I have another memorable period written down in my memory…

Shrimp Dumpling

Reaching Chinese New Year, making Chinese traditional food for new year is the most interesting and enjoyable activity in the family.

Shrimp dumpling (Xiao Jia) is the favourite food of Chinese people, espeically for breakfast. 'Shrim' in Cantonese pronunciation is sound like 'laughing', so we eat Shrim dumpling so as to bring happiness and laughing to our lives in the New Year.
